Polls Show Obama Losing Older Women Voters

OBAMA’S WOMEN PROBLEM at DickMorris.com

If soccer moms determined the outcome of the 1996 presidential race and security moms tipped the balance in 2004, it is beginning to look as if older moms are the key to the 2008 contest. Obama has a problem among women over 40 and a big problem among women over 50. These groups, normally the staunchest of Democratic supporters, are showing a propensity to back McCain and a disinclination to support Obama.

Older Women Voters.

It seems that Barack Obama is having a problem connecting with older women. What is the problem? The polls don't tell us the race of these women, so it must be women of all races. First you know that all of the older black women will vote for Obama, I don't blame them, they are proud. Since the majority of older women are white, you could come up with the conclusion that maybe they are prejudice. But men are voting the way they usually do. So if it was prejudice this would be the group you would see it in.

I think Barack Obama's problem with older women stems from his run against Hillary Clinton. Approximately 10 percent of Hillary Clinton voters in the primary season now belong to the "Just Say No" coalition, a collection of groups devoted to keeping Barack Obama out of the presidency. Is this group of women at "Just say no" of any importance? Will Bower, co-founder of PUMA/Just Say No Deal, an exploding coalition of voters who say they have raised $10 million in just days to pay down Clinton's campaign debt. This is serious.

Now more than two million, based on donation and other records, are
determined to protest the nominating process and push for an open
convention in Denver this August. Is this the reason "Barack Obama wants to give his acceptance speech in a stadium because he intends to minimize any pro-Hillary supporter dissent?

Women were created to nurture and always willing to help those in need. In their eyes, they see a man (Obama) taking advantage of a women (Hillary) and they are coming to her defense. Older women are always for the underdog.

Barack Obama has a big problem. He must bring these older women back into his fold and we know Hillary Clinton will not be VP. Hillary Clinton is schedule to speek on the third day of the convention, after the Democrat Vice President nonminee.

I think Dick Morris is right, older moms are the key to the 2008 contest.

  1. Anyone who disagrees with McCain and still votes for him because he's not Obama is needs to think this through better. It's not a protest vote. A protest vote should be to vote for someone else that would not help someone you dislike.

Instead of voting for McCain, why not vote for someone else like Nader or even writing in Clinton? It would make much more sense and be more useful than voting for McCain.

  2. Well, I'm one of those older women who support Obama. I can't bear the thought of 4 more years of Bush policies.

Having read that Obama is losing other older women I have started a blog, Old Broads for Obama at http://OldBroadForObama.blogspot.com to hopefully bring them into the fold.
