Hate crimes increase, FBI says

The Rev. Al Sharpton said "The FBI report confirms what we have been saying for many months about the severe increase in hate crimes. Sharpton called for Attorney General Michael Mukasey to meet with Members of the Congressional Black Caucus and civil rights leaders to discuss hate crime enforcement. My question is how severe of an increase and how severe is the crime. The news article said racial bias, accounting for 51.8 percent in 2006, down from 54.7 percent in 2005. Hate crime incidents in 2006 were 5,020 victims. 66.4 anti-black bias and 21.0 anti-white bias. Of the 5,020 victims of hate crimes against persons in 2006, 46.0 percent experienced intimidation, 31.9 percent were victims of simple assault, 21.6 percent were victims of aggravated assault. http:www.fbi.gov/ucr/hc2006/victims.html I personally don't see a severe problem. What I do see is the Rev. Al Sharpton acting like the Klan leaders of the past, inciting racial hatred among their followers. Even though racial injustice was done against blacks, Martin Luther King. Jr. never incited hatred against whites. He had a dream that one day, the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood. That little black boys and girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and girls as sisters and brothers. Rev. Al Sharpton stop wagging the dog.
