Pelosi, Reid take Mortgage Money give some to the Auto Industry

Pelosi, Reid Press for TARP Aid for Auto Industry - WSJ.com

WASHINGTON -- House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid sent a letter to Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson urging him to assist the Big Three auto makers by considering broadening the $700 billion Troubled Asset Relief Program to help the troubled industry.

The two top Democratic leaders in Congress are likely to make the request in a letter to the White House, which could be forwarded as soon as Saturday afternoon, said individuals familiar with the matter. President-elect Barack Obama is generally supportive of the appeal, but at the moment is moving on his own track to assist the industry, these individuals said.

Helping out the auto industry

Here we go, Reid and Pelosi wants to use the $700 billion, which is marked for the banking industry and give part of it to the auto industry. I thought we needed this money to improve credit flows and calm turmoil in financial markets incited by the downturn in the housing economy. Congress has already authorized a $25 billion loan package meant to help the industry retool to meet higher fuel economy standards. And already the Democrats want to take money from one source and give it to another. Share the wealth.

On October 27th John McCain said “Let’s get the first $25 billion to them first, see how that works before we say we’re going to give you some more.” The Democrats don't even know how much money the auto makers need, just throw money at the problem to solve it. Or are they taking the auto makers at their word of how much money they need?

How did the Bush administration and Congressional leaders, Reid and Peolsi, come up with the $700 billion to buy distressed mortgages? Answer; The recovery package cannot go higher than $700 billion without additional legislation. As for that figure, it lies between the optimistic estimate of $500 billion and the pessimistic guess of $1 trillion about the cost of fixing the financial mess.

So we don't know how much it will cost us, the tax payers, to fix the mortgage crises but we can take $25 billion of it and give it to the three US auto makers. What about the other auto makers here in the United States? Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Hyundai all have plants here in the States and employ American workers. States give them tax cuts so they can build a factory in their state. Are we going to help them? Or do they need help?

How is the President-elect going to help the auto industry? Obama said the auto industry would benefit from his $150-billion, 10-year plan to develop alternative energy sources, including fuel cells to power vehicles. So does the auto industry needs the $50 billion that Reid and Pelosi wants to give them or can they wait for the $150 billion that Barack Obama will invest in alternative fuels? Will the cars built with the $50 billion run on the $150 billion alternative fuels?

When it comes to our money, the Democrats know how to spend it. One thing we have learned from the Democrats here is, to fix a problem, just throw money at it. Money is the magic pill that cures all. Let's just do what John McCain said. First loan them the $25 billion and lets see what happens. Then make a decision later on how they used the first money. Sounds smart?

ACORN signs up Mickey Mouse to Vote in Florida

Vote drives defended, despite fake names - St. Petersburg Times

Mickey Mouse tried to register to vote in Florida this summer.

Nationwide, ACORN is a favorite GOP target for allegations of voter registration fraud this year.

This year, 39 members of the House of Representatives have asked Attorney General Michael Mukasey to investigate ACORN.

Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now

Here is the problem. ACORN pays those who work for them and collect voter registration cards $8 dollars an hour. Their goal or quota is 20 sign ups a day, That's 100 a week or 400 a month that one person is encouraged to sign up. A recipe for fraud.

ACORN said it terminates canvassers who forge applications. But their are many problems with unreadable handwriting, missing information, signatures that didn't match those on file, altered dates of birth or Social Security numbers, applications for people already registered to vote and names that appeared repeatedly, often with different addresses.

So what happens with all of these applications? In most states, ACORN must turn in every form that is filled out. "We must turn in every voter registration card by Florida law, even Mickey Mouse.

ACORN's political action committee has endorsed Obama, but the group says its voter registration efforts are nonpartisan. Do you believe this? Madeline Talbott, lead organizer of the feisty ACORN community organization, a group that's a thorn in the side of most elected officials, "Barack has proven himself among our members. He is committed to organizing, to building a democracy. Above all else, he is a good listener, and we accept and respect him as a kindred spirit, a fellow organizer."Obama continues his organizing work largely through classes for future leaders identified by ACORN and the Centers for New Horizons on the south side.

What does Barack Obama teach these future leaders? "The right wing, the Christian right, has done a good job of building these organizations of accountability, much better than the left or progressive forces have. But it's always easier to organize around intolerance, narrow-mindedness, and false nostalgia. And they also have hijacked the higher moral ground with this language of family values and moral responsibility.

Obama should rein in ACORN's efforts in order to fight voter fraud. But Obama told reporters on Tuesday that ACORN was not advising his campaign on voter registration. Obama will do nothing and said, "This is another one of those distractions that get stirred up during the campaign," You decide!

Fla. Congressman Tim Mahoney Bribes Former Lover

A Florida (House) Bombshell - The Fix

The report from ABC News that Florida Democratic Rep. Tim Mahoney paid a former mistress more than $100,000 to settle a lawsuit she was planning to bring against him badly imperils a seat that was already high on Republicans' target list.

"I just learned today about the serious allegations concerning Congressman Tim Mahoney," said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. "These charges must be immediately and thoroughly investigated by the House Ethics Committee."

"According to ABC News, Tim Mahoney apparently included our company in a secret legal agreement without the knowledge of our firm," said Bill Fletcher. "Our firm did not agree to any legal settlement."

Rep Tim Mahoney

Tim Mahoney is in a secret legal agreement with Patricia Allen. A secret legal agreement? NO, bribe money or hush money. A Mahoney spokesman said the first-term representative never used campaign funds to pay off Allen.I guess it was okay to pay off Allen as long as it was not campaign money.

The scandal also poses major problems for House Democratic leadership, which is hoping to ride a wave of economic discontent to expand its majority. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said. "These charges must be immediately and thoroughly investigated by the House Ethics Committee." I wonder if this will be in the news for the next three weeks? Will the news media hound this story like the Mark Foley emails to under age pages?

Now how did Ms Allen get involved with the Congressman? Mahoney first met Allen at a campaign stop and later arranged for her to work as a volunteer on the campaign, according to the report. She also appeared in a Mahoney campaign television commercial, criticizing his opponent, Mark Foley. Friends of Allen told ABC she sought to break off the affair when she learned Mahoney was allegedly involved in other extra-marital relationships at the same time.

Well Mark Foley resigned in September after being confronted with lurid computer messages he sent to male teenage pages and Tim Mahoney took his place. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) took the House floor last night to demand an investigation into the Foley matter. But Boehner headed her off, calling on the House to refer the matter to the ethics committee, which the House promptly voted unanimously to do.

Then House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi of California proposed to the House that its ethics committee investigate and make a preliminary report in 10 days. She demanded to know who knew of the messages, whether Foley had other contacts with pages and when the Republican leadership was notified of Foley's conduct.

I think the Republicans should demand the same with Tim Mahoney. First we should have a preliminary report in 10 days. We should know when the Democrats knew about the cover up bribe. And Congressman Tim Mahoney should resign just like Mark Foley.

Ohio Democrat Secretary Of State, New Voters Register and Vote Same Day

My Way News - Voting for president begins in pivotal Ohio

In the state that may again determine the presidency, voters started
casting ballots Tuesday as Barack Obama struggles to thwart a John
McCain victory in Ohio four years after it tipped the election to
President Bush.

On Monday, the state Supreme Court and two federal judges upheld the
ruling by Democratic Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner that allows
new voters to register and cast an absentee ballot on the same day from
Tuesday through Oct. 6. Republicans argued that Ohio law requires
voters to be registered for 30 days before they cast an absentee ballot.

The Ohio GOP asked the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati on
Tuesday either to stop same-day voting or require elections official to
separate those ballots so the registrations can be verified. But Brunner already has instructed election officials to segregate those ballots and verify the registrations before counting them. A three-judge panel of the federal appeals court denied the request later in the day.

The Right to Vote.

The Ohio Supreme Court and a federal judge on Monday upheld a week long period in which new voters can register and cast an absentee ballot on the same day in Ohio. Than why can't someone register and vote on November 4th in Ohio, on election day? Why is there a law in Ohio that a person must register 35 days before an election in order to vote in that election?

Democrat Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner was following the law when she ruled there is a six-day window in which voters can  register and vote at the same time. She might have been following the letter of the law but she was not following the spirit of the law when a person must wait 35 days in order to vote.

I think the Republicans should take advantage of this. First we must contact Rush Limbaugh and wake up the Operation Chaos people in Ohio. They should take their family members and neighbors go register and vote early for McCain/Palin. Second Rush should call for all the Hillary voters to vote now for McCain/Palin so Hillary can run against them in 2012. Next we need to get all the youth ministers  involved in this election. First tell them what Barack Obama believe about abortion and how he voted. Register the youth and let them vote. Guess who they will vote for? Last, get all the members of the VFW and DAV lodges. Have them vote early and start a grass root movement in bringing people to the polls.

Republican leaders in Ohio should use this oppertunity to get out the vote. Conservative talk show host in Ohio show help to get out the conservative vote. If we all work together we can use this Democrat fast one for the benifit of the McCain/Palin ticket.
