China's delaying tactics threaten climate deal - Climate Change, Environment - The Independent

China is attempting to scupper chances of a comprehenive agreement at the Copenhagen climate summit by using delaying tactics, sources inside the negotiations have told The Independent.

At an emergency meeting convened at the Bella Center this morning, Barack Obama and Gordon Brown assembled 26 heads of state in an attempt to revive a deal. But China's Premier Wen Jiabao did not attend and was replaced by vice foreign minister He Yafei.

This afternoon, the US president and his secretary of state Hillary Clinton called another meeting with China, but were snubbed again when only three low-level Chinese delegates arrived.

President Obama clearly regarded Premier Wen’s absence as a major diplomatic insult, and snapped: “It would be nice to negotiate with somebody who can make political decisions.”

UK diplomatic sources later confirmed that China had taken huge offence at remarks by President Obama over the need to independently monitor every country carbon emissions. In his speech President Obama said: "Without any accountability, any agreement would be empty words on a page". The Chinese
delegation interpreted these comments as an attempt to humiliate them. It prompted Prime Minister Wen Jiabao to return to his hotel and send low level delegates to take his place in the talks.

In Copenhagen, joined by 20 other members of Congress, Pelosi was on message, announcing that the visit is really meant to create jobs.

"We see Copenhagen as a meeting about job creation," Pelosi said. "How do we move forward to create millions of clean energy jobs and new technologies to keep America No. 1?"

The jobs bill passed late Wednesday on a 217-212 vote, with no Republicans voting for the plan. The Senate won't take up jobs legislation until next year. With unemployment high it seems certain that some form of the bill will soon make it to the desk of President Barack Obama.

The jobs bill is a political no brainer. The $154 billion package will stimulate the labor market and provide needed jobs; jobs that will help the Democrats retain their control in the House and the Senate.

Good question Nancy "How do we create millions of clean energy jobs." How many green jobs do we have now and what is classified as a green job. And if $787 billion didn't create any new jobs how will $154 billion?

COPENHAGEN -- President Obama said Friday night that an international deal to combat climate change had been reached, but "it is going to be very hard, and it's going to take some time" to get to a legally binding treaty.

"Today, we've made a meaningful and unprecedented breakthrough here in Copenhagen," Obama said.
The agreement, which appeared to fall short of even modest expectations for the talks, has not been endorsed yet by the full summit.

The official, speaking earlier on condition of anonymity, said a "meaningful agreement was reached" following a multilateral meeting between Obama and the leaders of China, India and South Africa. "It's not sufficient to combat the threat of climate change, but it's an important first step," the official said.

Obama admitted the commitments fell far short of what scientists have said is required to avert dangerous climate change. "We know they will not be sufficient, by themselves, to get to where we need to be by 2050," the president said. "Kyoto was legally binding, and everyone still fell short anyway."


"It will not be legally binding, but what it will do is allow for eachcountry to show to the world what they're doing, and there will be a sense on the part of each country that we're in this together, and
we'll know who is meeting and who's not meeting the mutual obligations that have been set forth."

However, the emerging deal - which needs to be accepted by all of the 193 nations at the talks - received a mixed reaction.
Lumumba Stanislaus Di-Aping, speaking on behalf of the G77-China group of nations, reacted angrily to the developments, saying that a deal had been done behind their backs.

"Gross violations have been committed today - against the poor, against traditions of transparency and participation on an equal footing by all nations, and against common sense," he said.
A number of nations are reportedly not willing to accept the latest draft of the document, known as the "Copenhagen Accord".
Reacting to the Copenhagen "deal", John Sauven, executive director of Greenpeace UK, said: "The city of Copenhagen is a crime scene tonight, with the guilty men and women fleeing to the airport.
So Copenhagen was a bust. Two weeks of wasted time with nothing getting done. Even this last minute secret Obama deal, done in the dark of night, no one is happy with. And will not be a deal until 193 nations sign the accord.

I would like to express my concern regarding reports that the Administration may believe it has the unilateral power to commit the government of the United States to certain standards that may be agreed upon at the upcoming United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Conference of Parties 15 in Copenhagen, Denmark. The phrase “politically binding” has been used.
Although details have not been made available, recent statements by Special Envoy on Climate Change Todd Stern indicate that negotiators may be intending to commit the United States to a nationwide emission reduction program. As you well know from your time in the Senate, only specific legislation agreed upon in the Congress, or a treaty ratified by the Senate, could actually create such a commitment on behalf of our country.
I would very much appreciate having this matter clarified in advance of the Copenhagen meetings.

Senator Webb's office told the Washington Times Water Cooler the president has not replied back in writing, and the decision to write the president a letter on this issue comes from Mr. Webb's concern
about issues of constitutional checks and balances.

A spokeswoman for Mr. Webb said, "If we're going to make binding commitments, the Senate needs to be an obligatory player in that process." The spokeswoman also noted Mr. Webb's concern with the
vague commitment from China and India on the issue of cap and trade.
It said the president believed recent progress included the emissions reduction target announced by the US; China and India setting targets for the first time to reduce their carbon intensity and moves by
members of the Commonwealth.
The White House said the president had discussed the state of the negotiations with Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Nicolas Sarkozy and British
Prime Minister Gordon Brown.
He concluded there appeared to be growing support for the suggested $10bn annual fund to help developing countries deal with climate change.
The White House said the US would pay its "fair share".

Looks like King Obama just likes to spend and give our money away.

GM says new Volt could get 230 mpg in city driving

General Motors said Tuesday its Chevrolet Volt electric car could get 230 mpg in city driving, making it the first American vehicle to achieve triple-digit fuel economy if that figure is confirmed by federal regulators.
But when the four-door family sedan hits showrooms late next year, its efficiency will come with a steep sticker price: $40,000.
Still, the Volt's fuel efficiency would be four times more than the popular Toyota Prius hybrid, the most efficient car now sold in the U.S.


Most automakers are working on similar designs, but GM would offer the first mainstream plug-in with the Volt, which seats four and was introduced at the 2007 Detroit auto show.

The Volt is powered by an electric motor and a battery pack with a 40-mile range. After that, a small internal combustion engine kicks in to generate electricity for a total range of 300 miles. The
battery pack can be recharged from a standard home outlet.

Toyota's Prius—which starts at about $22,000—gets 51 mpg in the city and 48 mpg on the highway and goes further than 300 miles. Hybrids use a small internal combustion engine combined with a high-powered battery to boost fuel efficiency.

What is the life of these high powered batteries?
The bottom line is that no one really knows how long they last. Manufacturers like Toyota and Honda have warranties that last for 8 years and between 80,000 and 100,000 miles. Replacement battery packs for hybrid cars generally cost about $3,000.

The batteries in hybrid cars are responsible for the better fuel economy that's become central to the technology. They power the electric motor, which typically propels a hybrid car at lower speeds. This puts less pressure on the gasoline engine and stretches out the amount of fuel a vehicle burns in between trips to the gas station.

But the chemical material that makes up all car batteries, whether it's a conventional car or a hybrid, is typically toxic. Currently, there are far fewer hybrid cars on the road than conventional cars; however,
concerns have been raised that if the number of hybrid cars increase, landfills will soon overflow with toxic batteries that are full of corrosive and carcinogenic materials.

Japanese electronics maker Hitachi Ltd. said Thursday it will supply lithium-ion batteries for hybrid vehicles to General Motors Corp. in 2010 and sharply raise production capacity to meet surging demand for gas-electric cars.
Hitachi currently makes 40,000 lithium-ion batteries per month and will lift the capacity to three million units per month that's 36 million a year.

PHEVs and electric cars need more robust lithium batteries than conventional hybrids, because the batteries undergo a more severe duty cycle, charged to the brim then nearly drained.

Even as it pushes ahead on the electric Smart cars, Mercedes says it isn't sure rechargeable batteries cut pollution or energy use. "You have to produce the energy" for recharging, and that might come from inefficient, higher-polluting sources.

So are you going to buy a GM Chevrolet Volt electric car  for $40,000 that only will go 300 miles a day, which you might have to buy a $3000 replacement battery and not save the environment?

SINGAPORE (Reuters) - A dramatic warming of the planet 55 million years ago cannot be solely explained by a surge in carbon dioxide levels, a study shows, highlighting gaps in scientists' understanding of impacts from rapid climate change.

During an event called the Palaeocene-Eocene Thermal Maximum, global temperatures rose between 5 and 9 degrees Celsius within several thousand years. The world at that time was already warmer than now with no surface ice.

"We now believe that the CO2 did not cause all the warming, that there were additional factors," said Richard Zeebe, an oceanographer with the University of Hawaii at Manoa.

I wonder if the bear is holding up a sign. If he was real he would eat them.

Al Gore; Today I challenge our nation to commit to producing 100 percent of our electricity from renewable energy and truly clean carbon-free sources within 10 years. To those who say 10 years is not enough time, I respectfully ask them to consider what the world's scientists are telling us about the risks
we face if we don't act in 10 years. To be sure, reaching the goal of 100 percent renewable and truly clean electricity within 10 years will require us to overcome many obstacles.

Solar, Windmills, Biofuels, Three complete losers. Yes they work in the class room or the lab but do they power a city? No. Do they power a subdivision? No. Do they power a house? Yes about 15% max.
Now we are to power the whole world, with new fuels, in less than 10 years.

The world must burn less diesel and wood, Nobel peace prize-winner Al Gore said yesterday, as the soot produced is accelerating the melting of ice in polar and mountainous regions.

Here is my challenge to President Barack Obama and Mr. Al Gore. If you believe in Solar, Windmills and Biofuels so much, make the largest polluter in the United States convert to them. That seems fair, right?
The U.S. Department of Defence is the largest polluter in the world, producing more hazardous wast then the five largest U.S. chemical companies combined. So lets run our national defence on solar, windmills or biofuels.

Al Gore said sceptics who refused to believe that dramatic cuts in carbon emissions could be delivered should consider the example of the young scientists in the Nasa team who put a man on the Moon on 1969. Okay Mr. Gore make me a believer before you change my life style, work on the largest polluter.
Make the U.S. military commit to running it's whole operations of of 100 percent renewable energy.

President Barack Obama signed the $787 billion economic stimulus bill after touring the solar panel installation on the roof of the Denver Museum of Nature and Science.

Since the bill is loaded up with green energy goodies, the president's handlers no doubt thought that the tour made a great photo opportunity. The implied message is that instead of "a chicken in every pot," we'll get "a solar panel on every roof" with the stimulus plan.

But as nice as those panels look, just how practical are they? Well, the Denver Business Journal looked into the project last summer and found that the 465 panel 100-kilowatt installation cost $720,000 and will produce about 130,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity annually. According to the Journal, electricity from the solar array will replace between 2 and 12 per cent of the museum's electricity demand. In fact, an internal museum report says the solar panels will supply only 1 to 2 percent of the museum's electricity need.

110 Years to Pay for Those Denver Solar Panels.

Do you know most solar panels have an expected life-span of 20 to 25 years. So why before signing the $787 billion stimulus package into law on February 17, 2009, President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden toured an array of solar panels on top of the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. Because this is what the government, you and I, are paying for.

Obama said "We expect you, the American people, to hold us accountable for the results," he said, citing www.recovery.gov, a website that will track the stimulus spending and allow citizens to comment and question the allocations.

According to the Denver Post's article on the event, “The sun generates enough energy on the museum rooftop to power about 30 homes.” However, that claim cannot be verified at this time, and in fact, seems to be belied by the scant information provided by the museum and other sources. Laura Holtman, Public Relations Manager for the Museum said in an email, “Because the array generates less than 5 percent of the Museum's power, [the purchased energy] is not a particularly large bill.”

Specifically, the Institute asked for:

1 ) Two years worth of electric bills prior to the installation of the solar array,
2 ) All electric bills following the completion of the installation.

The Museum denied those requests.

Blake Jones, chief executive of Namaste Solar, whose company installed 18 rows of panels, said he called other CEOs of solar companies to evaluate what they found in the stimulus bill. "The consensus is that this bill will immediately benefit companies like ours," he said.

The president used the state as a stage to talk about job creation and civic investment. He said the stimulus bill could create 60,000 jobs here and 400,000 jobs nationwide.

Now we know why the stimulus is not working. We are investing in businesses that does not product an effective product. We are investing in solar panels that will never replace coal. If it works show us the facts. let us see the electrical bills before the panels and after the panels. Al Gore panels are not working. He is using more energy. Please President Obama stop wasting our money.

For the second time in little over a year, it looks as though the world may be heading for a serious food crisis, thanks to our old friend "climate change". In many parts of the world recently the weather has
not been too brilliant for farmers. After a fearsomely cold winter, June brought heavy snowfall across large parts of western Canada and the northern states of the American Midwest. In Manitoba last week, it was -4ºC. North Dakota had its first June snow for 60 years.

There was midsummer snow not just in Norway and the Cairngorms, but even in Saudi Arabia. At least in the southern hemisphere it is winter, but snowfalls in New Zealand and Australia have been abnormal. There have been frosts in Brazil, elsewhere in South America they have had prolonged droughts, while in China they have had to cope with abnormal rain and freak hailstorms, which in one province killed 20 people.

Weather in the Chicago area; The cloudy, chilly and rainy open to June here has been the talk of the
town. So far this June is running more than 12 degrees cooler than last year, and the clouds, rain and chilly lake winds have been persistent. The average temperature at O'Hare International Airport through Friday has been only 59.5 degrees: nearly 7 degrees below normal and the
coldest since records there began 50 years ago.

and the global freezing claims in the 1960's and 70's were. Global warming is being used to generate fear and panic. Those behind this movement are using it to control people's lives and for financial gain.
Gore has built a "green money-making machine capable of eventually generating billions of dollars for investors, including himself, but he set it up so that the average Joe can't afford to play on Gore's
terms," writes blogger Dan Riehl.


Gore has described the lifestyle he and his wife Tipper live as "carbon neutral," meaning he tries to offset any energy usage, including plane flights and car trips, by "purchasing verifiable reductions in CO2 elsewhere."


But it turns out he pays for his extra-large carbon footprint through Generation Investment Management, a London-based company with offices in Washington, D.C., for which he serves as chairman. The company was established to take financial advantage of new technologies and solutions related to combating "global warming," reports blogger Bill Hobbs.

On November 17, 2008 President-elect Barack Obama clarified, in a talk recorded for YouTube, that the US will enter a cap and trade system to limit global warming.
The 2010 United States federal budget proposes to support clean energy development with a 10-year investment of US $15 billion per year, generated from the sale of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions credits. Under the proposed cap-and-trade program, all GHG emissions credits would be auctioned off, generating an estimated $78.7 billion in additional revenue in 2012, steadily increasing to $83 billion by 2019.
So as you can see my friend, those like Al Gore who push Global Warming are like the snake oil seller of old. Pulling the wool over your eyes to make money off of you. Please don't drink the snake oil.

A surreal scientific blunder last week raised a huge question mark
about the temperature records that underpin the worldwide alarm over global warming. On Monday, Nasa's Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS), which is run by Al Gore's chief scientific ally, Dr James Hansen, and is one of four bodies responsible for monitoring global temperatures, announced that last month was the hottest October on record.

This was startling. Across the world there were reports of unseasonal snow and plummeting temperatures last month, from the American Great Plains to China, and from the Alps to New Zealand. China's official news agency reported that Tibet had suffered its "worst snowstorm ever". In the US, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration registered 63 local snowfall records and 115 lowest-ever temperatures for the month, and ranked it as only the 70th-warmest October in 114 years.

Global Warming,"Freezing Heat"

Former Vice President Al Gore said that Americans must abandon electricity generated by fossil fuels within a decade and rely on the sun, the winds and other environmentally friendly sources of power, or risk losing their national security as well as their creature comforts.

Lose our creature comforts? Al Gore just bought a houseboat bout 100 feet long. To get an idea about how large this boat is, let's compare it to your house. An average three bedroom two bath home is about 1500 square feet. This boat on the main deck is about 2000 square feet. If you would count the lower deck and the top deck, it's over 4000 square feet.

How did all this global warming warming crap get started? One scientist more responsible than any other for the alarm over global warming it is Dr Hansen, who set the whole scare in train back in 1988 with his testimony to a US Senate committee chaired by Al Gore. Dr. Hanson even supported Greenpeace when they criminally damaging a coal-fired power station in Kent, on the grounds that the harm done to the planet by a new power station would far outweigh any damage they had done themselves. So do you think he is bias?

Now the United Nations wants the United States to reduce our carbon footprint to remedy a problem which may actually not exist, is a question which should give us all pause for thought.

His large Nashville home, utility bills and jet travels have drawn
flamethrowers over the last year and a half. Now, it's a houseboat he bought this summer.

The latest angry anti-Gore round boiled up when radio talk show host
Steve Gill, a regular Gore basher, fired up listeners over the family's
new 100-foot houseboat that's docked on Center Hill Lake.

Sorry but the boat in the picture is not Al Gore's house boat, it is only 55 foot long. Mr Gore's boat is twice that size, about 100 feet long. To get an idea about how large this boat is, let's compare it to your house. An average three bedroom two bath home is about 1500 square feet. This boat on the main deck is about 2000 square feet. If you would count the lower deck and the top deck, it's over 4000 square feet.

Now I am happy for the Gore's new house boat. I believe that if you are successful in life at what you do, it's your money and you should be able to buy what you want. I don't believe the Government should tell you, what you can do with your money or take what they want. I believe in the Fair Tax plan. And I don't believe people should scare you into living one way while they live another.

Now how does Mr Gore justify this large houseboat? Well the fact that the houseboat, called Bio-Solar One, has a roof blanketed with solar panels and runs on biodiesel. Bio-Solar One uses about 4 gallons of bio-diesel on a typical weekend, depending on use. This is about 20-25% more fuel efficient than other boats this size and has about a 500 gallon tank. First the Hurricane Marina dock doesn't sell bio-diesel. Plus bio-diesel only has a shelf life of no more than six months.

When the boat is not in use, the solar panels will feed renewable energy back into the grid at the marina. Doesn't this sound great with no facts to back them up? Well here are some facts.

We have learned about carbon foot prints from an Inconvenient Truth but I think Al Gore is telling us a convenient lie.

Do you believe this? "The future of human civilization is at stake." We have just ten years. How can you build new power plants for 300 million people in the United States in ten years? One nuclear plant takes 10 years to build. What other power plants besides nuclear is producing power to light up a city or even a subdivision? And the last question, who is going to pay for this? You and me?

In it, Gore cited military-intelligence studies warning of “dangerous national security implications” tied to climate change, including the possibility of “hundreds of millions of climate refugees” causing instability around the world.

Now Al Gore said that all these climate refugees will cause national security implications but I guess the 15 to 20 million refugees from Mexico is not a security implications. When it comes to Mexican refugees according to the Democrats and Al Gore, its okay to have them here and they must be part of our society. But when it come to climate refugees they will be a security problem.

So all of you who believe we just have 10 years, make plans to move into the mountains. It's impossible to be carbon free in 10 years. Please sell your house to a good conservative. We believe we will be here for a long time.

Democrats Push for Climate Change Bill

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Democratic head of the Senate's environment committee tried Saturday to drum up support for legislation to deal with "one of the most important issues of our time," global warming.

Global Warming Hoax

"There are some in the Senate who insist that global warming is nothing more than science fiction," Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., said in the Democrats' weekly radio address. "The fact is that the overwhelming majority of scientists say that the earth is in peril if we don't act now."

This is not true. Sen Barbara Boxer, D-Calf. is just repeating hear say and not facts. On Dec. 13, 2007, 100 scientists jointly signed an Open Letter to Ban Ki-Moon, Secretary-General of the United Nations, requesting they cease the man-made global warming hysteria and settle down to helping mankind better prepare for natural disasters. The final signature was from the President of the World Federation of Scientists. These are scientist who study climate change and know what they are talking about.

China is the rousing giant of global warming. It stands as a developing nation outside the guidelines of the Kyoto treaty, yet with more than one billion people and a huge energy-gobbling economy, it is one of the most influential countries in climate change. It is first in coal consumption and the number two nation in carbon dioxide emissions behind the United States. They are quickly becoming number one in carbon dioxide emissions.

One hundred and thirty-seven (137) developing countries have ratified the Kyoto Protocol, including Brazil, China and India, but have no obligation beyond monitoring and reporting emissions. The United States has not ratified the treaty. They have no obligation but reporting. But Sen. Barbara Boxer and the United Nations wants us to lower our standard of living and not the rest of the three major polluters.

Boxer disputed industry claims that proposed limits on carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gas emissions pose risks to the economy. The legislation "will create millions of new jobs and put us on the path to energy independence," she said. What makes Barbara Boxer so smart that she know better than the industry experts? She is a woman who is governing by feelings, instead of facts. In order to be a good congresswoman you must look at both sides of an issue not just one.

The United Nations Wants U.S. to Reduce Carbon Footprint.

Take nothing but pictures. Leave nothing but footprints. That's what the grown-ups told us when we were kids setting out to explore nature on a hike, field trip or camp out. It seemed like the perfect philosophy. Who knew the footprints would get so big?

Your carbon footprint is the amount of carbon dioxide you are responsible for, be it from your car's exhaust or the production of electricity to run your air conditioner. The average American's carbon footprint is 42,000 to 44,000 pounds a year according to the United Nations. By John Campanelli, Newhouse News Service.

The United Nations knows what the average American's footprint is and a list of things that we must do to reduce our carbon footprint. I wonder if the United Nations knows the carbon footprint of the Chinese, since they are the largest producer of carbon dioxide. With India population growth and growth of their industry, they are a close second. Question, what is the United Nation themselves doing to cut down on their carbon footprint? They should be setting the example.

Let's look at the big picture. On a countries total out put of carbon dioxide what percentage do people produce? What percentage does industry produces? What percentage does government produce? And what are governments of these three large producers of carbon doing to reduce their footprint?

Are they recycling half of their waste? How about getting rid of their extra cars? Here is a good one. How about using ceiling fans or free standing fans instead of air condition? Unplug all of their electronics and appliances when they're not in use. And last. Raising their thermostats 2 degrees in summer and lowering it 2 degrees in winter.

You see the population or people are the least carbon producers in a country. The government wants you to change your lifestyle while they don't change theirs. Why is this? Because they want you, the American people, to feel guilty for the way we live so the government can get more of your money in taxes. And the United Nations want more money from the United States.

U N Children's Book Promotes Global Warming Fears to Kids.

The book is about a young boy named Tore who lives in an Arctic village. Tore loses a dog sled race because he crashes through the thinning ice allegedly caused by man made greenhouse gas emissions. The book features colorful drawings and large text to appeal to young children. After the boy loses the dog sled race, he is visited by "Sedna, the Mother of the Sea."in a dream. The 'Sea Mother" Goddess informs Tore in blunt terms that the thinning ice that caused his loss in the dog sled race was due to man made global warming. "I'm the one who created and cares for the sea creatures, whales and walruses, seals and fish," the "Sea Mother" explains to Tore. The "Sea Mother" then tells the boy she will educate him about the reason the ice is thinning.

The "Snowy owl" tells Tore that winning dog sledding races "might not be your top worry" and the owl instead tells the boy the "lots of things are changing fast. Some people who hunt for a living are already going hungry because a lot of seals and walruses are heading north." Next, a polar bear informs Tore that it is hungry because the ice is too thin to stand on and hunt and the bear says that other bears have "starved" because the ice went out to sea. The Polar bear adds, "We may not have much of a future." The polar bear concludes by telling Tore, "It looks like many animals and fish and birds will go extinct-die out-during your lifetime, partly because of changes in climate." The whale appears to present more climate fear, the boy finally screams , "Listen, I've had all the bad news I can stand. Our world is melting. Polar bears are starving and all sorts of animals won't survive. I don't want to hear anymore"

The "Sea Mother" tells him of the dangerous effects that an oil and gas based energy system has on the climate, and the "Sea Mother" singles out the industrialized world as the cause of her climate catastrophe. "Rich countries use and waste an awful lot of energy. Huge cars. Too many cars instead of efficient trains and buses." the Sea Mother explains to Tore.

Can you believe this? No matter which side you are on, you don't bring children into the discussion of global warming. They don't and can not understand what global warming is. All you are doing is planting fear and they will give up on the future. In their little minds they can't see what they can do, so they cry. Adults are suppose to keep them safe so they can dream of becoming great in life.

You need to click on the link and read this report. It will show you the short comings of this story and the lies it is pushing. This is not a one sided issue, many renowned scientist defected from the belief in global warming. All the U N is doing is sowing fear in the minds of children and destroying their future.

With strong overseas economies, private jet orders soaring.

The U.S. economy may be coming in for a landing, but the demand for private jets is still flying high. The bustling economies of China and India, and newfound oil wealth in countries such as Russia, have helped keep sales of small executive jets strong. Despite the weakening of corporate profits in the United States, North America plane makers are reporting record orders, many from overseas. "There is a lot of demand worldwide," said Raymond Jaworowski, an aerospace analyst with the market research firm Forecast International in Newtown, Conn. "If the U.S. economy does soften and even if we go into a recession, the effects will be insulated somewhat by the growing economies outside the United States." The overall demand for jets is expected to remain strong in the coming years, said Jaworowski, who forecast nearly 15,000 business jets, worth a total of $192 billion, will be sold in the next decade industry wide. Somebody needs to tell Al Gore what is happening here. Our planet will face insurmountable consequences if we don't reduce our carbon foot print. Oh thats right, Al Gore owns one of those private jets. That is how he travels to preach the global warming gospel. In fact many of todays preachers own private jets to spread the gospel of Christ. Oh yes the Pope said Thou shall not pollute the earth. More on that later,

We are told to drive less, buy hybrid cars and get rid of our safe big gas guzzling cars. What type of light bulbs we must use in our homes and buy product that use recycle material. We are told how we should live our lives while the rest of the world is ordering 15,000 private jets. Compare your little carbon foot print with one of those private jets. I read an article where the green people want to push bicycles in all major cities to reduce carbon emissions and reduce traffic. I can see it now. Here I am, a 55 year old man riding my bike to work when a private jet passes over head.

Cold winter, Climate change talk heating up.

The world has seen some extraordinary winter conditions in both hemispheres over the past year, snow in Johannesburg last June and in Baghdad in January. Arctic sea ice returning with a vengeance after a record retreat last summer, paralyzing blizzards in China, and a sharp drop in the globe's average temperature. It is no wonder that some scientist, opinion writers, political operatives and other people who challenge warnings about dangerous human-caused global warming have jumped on this as a teachable moment. So what is happening? According to many climate experts, including some who question the extent and risks of global warming, , it is mostly good old-fashioned weather, along with a cold kick from the tropical Pacific Ocean, which is in its La Nina phase for a few more months, a year after it was in the opposite, warm, El Nino pattern. Some scientists who strongly disagree with each other on the extent of warming coming in this century, and what to do about it, agreed that it was important not to be tempted to over- interpret short-term swings in climate, either hot or cold. Did you know that there are scientists who strongly disagree with the extent of global warming? Maybe its time to use this record breaking winter to expose the silly warming alarmist that the news media and some scientists have been ceaselessly promoting for decades. But both sides agreed not to be tempted to over-interpret climate swings. Who has been over interpreting the climate swing. It's been the global warming crowd.

The global warming crowd has been using scare tactics to get people to alter their way of life. Movies have been made, to frighten people, that if we don't change the way we live the earth will die in 10 years. Making people to give their hard earn money, to the government, so they can tell us how to live our lives according to their beliefs on how to save the earth. Making laws to hinder the growth and prosperity of our nation and us.

Publish the truth, not what you believe in. Publish what other scientist believe in, not just the global warming scientist believe in. We as Americans should be able to see both side of the argument. The problem is that they don't trust us to make the right dissension. Because we must believe only like them and if you don't your wrong. It's time we start pushing back. You will know the truth and the truth will set you free.

U.S. House's carbon offsets waste of tax payers money

The House of Representatives has presumably learned that money cannot buy love or happiness. Now, it turns out it's not a sure solution to climate guilt, either. In November, the Democratic-led House spent about $89,000 on so called carbon offsets. This purchase was supposed to cancel out greenhouse gas emissions from House buildings, including half of the U.S. Capitol, by triggering an equal reduction in emissions elsewhere. Some of the money went to farmers in North Dakota, for tilling practices that keep carbon buried in the soil. But some farmers were already doing this, for other reasons, before the House paid a cent. Other funds went to Iowa, where a power plant had been temporarily readjusted to burn more cleanly. But that test project had ended more than a year before the money arrived. " It didn't change much behavior that wasn't going to happen anyway," said Joseph Romn, "It just, I think, demonstrated why offsets are controversial and possibly pointless.... This is a waste of taxpayer money." By David A. Fahrenthold, Washington Post staff writer.

I think carbon offsets is just feel good hype. If you think I'm wrong than let's see the best way to reduce carbon offsets. First, tree planting is a mainstay of carbons offsetting. So we should give money to tree planters, right! Then let's give the timber industry the money. They plant more trees than anyone else, in fact if you drive I-10 from Louisiana to Florida's east coast you will pass through many tree farms. They plant a tree about every three feet and have more trees per acre than the forest. So should we let them, the timber industry, cut down all the forest so we can plant more trees per acre. In a way that is what you are suggesting, more trees. Wait that is a problem, we need to cut down more trees so we can plant more corn for ethanol to reduce our oil consumption. In order to plant more corn we need more farm land. How can we do this? I know people are the problem. Thinking they can play God and solve earth's problems. Trying to solve the climate temperature is like all of us taking a bucket and try to empty the Gulf of Mexico.

Pressure builds on coal industry

In federal and state courtrooms across the country, environmental groups are putting coal-fueled power plants on trial in a bid to slow the industry's biggest construction boom in decades. At least four dozen coal plants are being contested in 29 states, according to a Associated Press tally. "Our goal is to oppose these projects at each and every stage, from zoning and air and water permits, to their mining permits and new coal railroads." said Bruce Nilles, a Sierra Club attorney who directs the group's national coal campaign. It's undeniable coal is one of the country's cheapest and most abundant fuels. Coal plants provide just over 50 percent of the nation's electricity. They also are the largest domestic source of the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide, emitting 2 billion tons annually, about a third of the country's total. By Matthew Brown, Associated Press Writer.

As the U.S. population grows we build new homes and we wire them for electricity. We build new stores for these people and we wire these buildings. We also wire all those office buildings they all need electricity. Ask the people in Louisiana and Mississippi how it feels to live without electricity for weeks after the storm. The Sierra Club wants to stop our growth and wants you to share your electricity with someone else. Which day of the week can you do without electricity? How many hours a day can you do without electricity? Wait! What about wind power plants? Texas' largest wind farm has 421 wind turbines that will power 230,000 homes per year. The nations total electricity produced by wind turbines is about 0.4 percent. Not even a half percent. And as we restrict our electric growth the rest of the world is growing and building more coal electric plants. I have an idea, if there were 12 million people less in the United States we would us less energy right. Why don't the Sierra Club go round up all the illegal alien, with their money, and send them back to Mexico. Just think of all the energy we can save.

Oil wealth fueling big dreams in Saudi Arabia.

The alarm bell sounded the end of the lunch break one November afternoon, and suddenly thousands of workers - on foot, on bicycles and in buses streamed in, seemingly from out of nowhere, and jolted the huge construction site to life. Amid a forest of cranes, towers and beams rising from the desert, more than 38,000 workers from China, India, Turkey and beyond have been toiling for two years in unforgiving conditions - often in temperatures exceeding 100 degrees - to complete one of the world's largest petrochemical plants in record time. By the end of the year, the massive city of steel at the edge of the Red Sea will take its place as a cog of globalization: Plastics produced at the plant will be used to make televisions in Japan, cell phones in China and thousands of other products to be sold in the United States and Europe. Construction cost at the plant, which spread over 8 square miles, have doubled to $10 billion because of shortages of materials and labor. I wonder if King Abdullah, the 83-year-old Saudi monarch, asked the environmental groups in Saudi Arabia for permission for the project? You know it's being built at the edge of the Red Sea, so there will be run off. I wonder if they have any environmentalist watchdogs that can file a law suit against the government? The environmental regulations has done the job in the U.S. In 1981, the U.S. had 324 refineries and today there are just 132 oil refineries, according to Oil and Gas Journal. Ask the green people, we don't need a petrochemical plant that will employ more than 38,000 workers and exports products to Japan, China, Europe and other parts of the world. We must pass legislation so our citizens can drive go carts to work and use florescent light bulbs. You know that the pollution will flow into California, that's the direction the weather patterns come from. Who is going to teach Saudi Arabia and those nations that follow Saudi's example, like Japan and China, a lesson? Maybe Green Peace can take their ship, with other green people, into the Red Sea and land on Saudi's beaches, naked, with signs like,"NO HAIR, CLEAN AIR." What do you think?

Japan to help China fight global warming.

China has displaced Japan as Asia's largest manufacturing country. But it is grappling with severe environmental problems, as its air, water, land and human health have suffered from poor enforcement of environmental rules, reliance on dirty coal and low energy efficiency. This year, according to outside estimates China also became the largest producer of global warming gases, surpassing the United States. Japan, in contrast, uses less energy per dollar of economic output than any other developed country. It has cut its carbon emissions sharply, how did they do it?, partly by outsourcing manufacturing to China and other Asian countries. That is what the United States is doing to cut our carbon emissions, out sourcing manufacturing to China and Mexico. China is the major emitting country of greenhouse gases. So without Chinese engagement in programs of reducing the emission of greenhouse gases, ANY international effort will inevitably be without effect. By Joseph Kahn, The New York Times.

So why should we pay with our tax dollars to clean the air if their will be no effect because China will put it back in the air? Let us save our money and do what Japan has done and that is out-source manufacturing to China? Wait we are doing that now. If we keep on this same track we will reduce our emissions of greenhouse gases without having to pay for it or change our life styles. I think Al Gore just wants our money. What do you think?

China says United States should cure global warming.

China insisted that the United States and other wealthy nations should bear, pay for with our money, the burden of curbing global warming, saying the problem was created by our lavish way of life, which they are producing goods for. China rejected mandatory emission cuts for its own developing industries, which are polluting the air. Environmental activists, those who believe, labeled the United States and Saudi Arabia the worst "climate sinners", is this a religion?, accusing them, us, of having inadequate polices for climate problems while letting greenhouse gas emissions rise, as our lifestyles rise. But the activists, those who believe, also said no country is doing enough, to lowering their lifestyles. Many experts believe China has surpassed the United States as the world's top emitter of carbon dioxide and other heat-trapping gases. Su Wei, a top climate expert for China's government said, "I think there is much room for the United States to think whether it's possible to change, our, lifestyle and consumption patterns, while they do nothing, in order to contribute to the protection of the global climate. The Kyoto pact, rejected by the United States because it didn't require any cuts by fast-developing countries such as China, India and Brazil,who are becoming the world's top emitters of carbon dioxide. China still relies heavily on dirty, outdated coal-burning techniques and is home to 20 of the world's 30 most polluted cities. Leave our lifestyle alone.
