Obama Says Energy Compromise Is Necessary - washingtonpost.com
TITUSVILLE, Fla., Aug. 2 -- Sen. Barack Obama on Saturday said a shift in his stance on offshore oil drilling is a necessary compromise with Republicans to gain their support for his broader goals of energy independence.
On Friday, Obama indicated a willingness to support an effort by five
Democratic senators and five Republicans to break Congress's energy
impasse with legislation that would allow expanded offshore oil
exploration and embrace ambitious energy efficiency and efforts to
develop alternative fuels.

Barack Obama said that he must take a shift in his stance to get some Republicans on his side for the bigger picture on energy. I will have to give Obama credit on this one. He sees that he must compromise to get things done in congress. Obama sees that 73 percent of Americans favor offshore drilling.
But if Barack Obama becomes President he will have problems with the Queen Bee, Nancy Pelosi. Speaker Nancy Pelosi won't allow the House of Representatives to vote on the Republican bill to lift the drilling ban even though she said "I accept this gavel in the spirit of partnership, not partisanship, and I look forward to working with you, and the Republicans in Congress for the good of the American people."
Nancy Pelosi explained to Politico: "I'm trying to save the planet; I'm trying to save the planet."This cannot be permitted. Nancy Pelosi reminds me of the Queen in Alice in Wonderland. When her subject did not do what she wanted, she would yell, "Off with their heads."
I am proud of the Republicans as they continue with their guerilla tactics from last week, House Republicans will be back on the floor Monday to talk gas prices, even though Congress is in recess, and they may stay there all week.
To encourage the Republicans, remember the stand of Democrat Senator Jim Webb. Sen. Jim Webb, D-Virginia, opened and then immediately gaveled the
Senate session to a close. He spent 57 seconds in the chamber.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nevada, announced December 19 that he would keep the Senate open with a series of "pro forma" sessions through mid-January. This was done to stop the President of the United States, George W Bush, from making any recess appointments.
With Democrat leaders in congress like, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, we don't need Barack Obama to be President of the United States.
