Barack Obama puts President Bill Clinton on short leash.

The Clinton-Obama turmoil continues in Denver; now it's Bill | Top of the Ticket | Los Angeles Times

Former President Bill Clinton is reportedly miffed that he's been given the assignment Wednesday night of selling Americans on Obama as a better commander-in-chief than Sen. John McCain, the all-but-official Republican presidential nominee.

Evidently, the former president would've preferred to talk about domestic policy and the economy in order to trash-talk the Republicans who he sees as destroying the prosperity and trend towards growing economic equality that characterized his presidency nearly a decade ago.

President Bill Clinton

Former President Bill Clinton is very upset. Senator Barack Obama is giving the former president an assignment, I want you to say this, that I, Barack Obama, would be a better Commander in Chief. Now sell this to the American public, so I can be president. I don't think Bill Clinton is sold on this. He is still upset with Obama for playing the race card on him.

So what did Bill Clinton say? Clinton, suggested she, Hillary, may lose Saturday's Democratic presidential primary, in South Carolina, because many black voters will side with Obama. Half of the Democrat voters in South Carolina where black. The ex-president also said, "When he put out a hit job on me at the same time he called her the senator from Punjab, I never said a word." Last year, Obama's campaign circulated a memo describing Hillary Clinton as "D-Punjab," a reference to her Indian-American donors. Obama has said that was a mistake.

When asked if there was any contention over Bill Clinton’s speech,
Obama was quick to note what he told Clinton on the phone on Thursday. “I said, 'Mr. President you can say whatever you like,'” Obama said. “Bill Clinton is a unique figure in our politics... It wouldn’t make sense to me to try and edit his remarks.”

Barack Obama said he would not try to edit Clintons remarks but this is what Andy Borowitz reported on the Huffington Post; Former President Bill Clinton's speech at the Democratic National Convention in Denver Wednesday night will be broadcast on a five-second delay similar to that used to screen callers on talk radio programs, party officials confirmed today.

The five-second delay, customarily used to censor callers who might use profanity or other unacceptable speech on a radio show, has never before been used in the broadcast of a speech by a former President of the United States, experts believe.

So no matter what happy face the Clintons put on, they are pissed at Obama and are saying it through their teeth. At this convention, the well-reported rift is between the Obamaphiles and the Clintonphiles and it's the continuing narrative. Also, since Obama doesn't have much of a national-security or foreign policy track record, to speak of, what is Clinton supposed to speak of? That's a fairly challenging assignment, even for a renowned campaigner as ex-president Clinton.

Now John McCain is going for Obama,s jugular with all of his latest ads. And the ads are working. John McCain’s campaign launched a new attack ad Wednesday against Barack Obama in an attempt to destroy the Democratic presidential candidate’s credibility during the same week he accepts his party’s nomination.

McCain’s ad, entitled “Tiny,” is designed to undermine the theme of Democratic convention’s third night, national security.
