GOP Battle for Congress, Palin factor, McCain Surge.

GOP Sees Rebound in Battle for Congress - washingtonpost.com

After months of fundraising doldrums, recruitment misfires and daunting polls, Republicans believe they are finally on the rebound in the battle for Congress. Both sides concede that the GOP stands almost no chance of taking back the House or Senate in November, but party leaders think the Palin factor and an increasingly competitive fight for the White House have generated enthusiasm and momentum that could limit GOP losses to only a few Senate seats and perhaps fewer than a dozen House seats.

Senate Capitol Building

In August, a USA Today-Gallup poll gave Democrats a 51 to 42 percent lead in congressional elections. After the GOP convention in St. Paul, Minn., Republicans had climbed to a 50 to 45 percent advantage. Democrats have never envisioned an easy path to a filibuster-proof 60-vote majority. Oh yes they did. Democrats know this is a huge prize and they are doing what ever they can to obtain this prize. This would give the Democrat congress a filibuster proof Senate.

What kind of power would this give Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi? It was a filibuster-proof Democratic majority that allowed FDR to pass his New Deal. It was a filibuster-proof Democratic Senate that allowed Lyndon Johnson to pass his Great Society. What would a filibuster proof Democratic Senate allow President Barack Obama to do with no one to stop the liberal Democrats?

What they are calling the change is the Palin factor. I have to admit that when John McCain picked Sarah Palin as his Vice President candidate, it woke up a sleeping Republican Giant. But we must give John McCain credit with keeping it going. As early as July 28 the Gallop Organization polls showed McCain up by 4 points reducing Obama's lead to 3.2 percent. So before the Republican national convention John McCain was gaining ground on Barack Obama.

McCain, the 72-year-old Washington veteran, and Palin, the 44-year-old first-term governor from Alaska, as they toured the Midwest this week, they are forging a new way of campaigning. This has generated enthusiasm and momentum that could limit GOP losses in congress. I agree the Republicans will not win back the majority but now the Democrats have a fight on their hands.

No one saw the Republican revolution that was coming in 1994 but they will see the Republican surge that will hit on November 4th.

Al Gore's 100ft Houseboat, Global Warming can Wait.

'Global warming' Gore attracts heat | www.tennessean.com | The Tennessean

His large Nashville home, utility bills and jet travels have drawn
flamethrowers over the last year and a half. Now, it's a houseboat he bought this summer.

The latest angry anti-Gore round boiled up when radio talk show host
Steve Gill, a regular Gore basher, fired up listeners over the family's
new 100-foot houseboat that's docked on Center Hill Lake.

100ft houseboat on lake.

Sorry but the boat in the picture is not Al Gore's house boat, it is only 55 foot long. Mr Gore's boat is twice that size, about 100 feet long. To get an idea about how large this boat is, let's compare it to your house. An average three bedroom two bath home is about 1500 square feet. This boat on the main deck is about 2000 square feet. If you would count the lower deck and the top deck, it's over 4000 square feet.

Now I am happy for the Gore's new house boat. I believe that if you are successful in life at what you do, it's your money and you should be able to buy what you want. I don't believe the Government should tell you, what you can do with your money or take what they want. I believe in the Fair Tax plan. And I don't believe people should scare you into living one way while they live another.

Now how does Mr Gore justify this large houseboat? Well the fact that the houseboat, called Bio-Solar One, has a roof blanketed with solar panels and runs on biodiesel. Bio-Solar One uses about 4 gallons of bio-diesel on a typical weekend, depending on use. This is about 20-25% more fuel efficient than other boats this size and has about a 500 gallon tank. First the Hurricane Marina dock doesn't sell bio-diesel. Plus bio-diesel only has a shelf life of no more than six months.

When the boat is not in use, the solar panels will feed renewable energy back into the grid at the marina. Doesn't this sound great with no facts to back them up? Well here are some facts.

For a 3.6kw size system your going to pay $22,300. The federal government will give you $3000 of our money. Rebate $14,400. It will take 8 years to pay for itself. If you have to finance it, maybe 12 years. So the cost may not cover the lifespan savings.

We have learned about carbon foot prints from an Inconvenient Truth but I think Al Gore is telling us a convenient lie.

Obama Losing Florida to McCain, the Palin Factor

Florida may be falling from Obama's grasp - St. Petersburg Times

Despite spending an estimated $8-million on campaign ads in America's biggest battleground state and putting in place the largest Democratic campaign organization ever in Florida, Obama has lost ground over the summer. Florida has moved from a toss-up state to one that clearly leans toward John McCain, fueling speculation about how much longer the Democratic nominee will continue investing so heavily in the state.

But for all the attention to Florida from the Obama campaign, there's little tangible evidence it's paying off.

Sarah Palin, John McCain's side kick.

Florida is a battle state that the Democrats thought they had in the bag. In that state, Barack Obama has 350 paid staffers and about 50 field offices. Despite spending an estimated $8-million in Florida there's little evidence it's paying off. Obama is father behind in Florida than John Kerry was at this point in 2004.

What has John McCain done in Florida so far? McCain began buying TV ads only last week. By this time in 2004, the Bush-Cheney campaign had spent $13-million on Florida TV. In early August they were tied, now McCain is leading by 5 to 8 percent.

Now seeing Florida slipping away Barack Obama calls out the big gun, Bill Clinton. Barack Obama made a personal appeal to Bill Clinton for advice on how to fight back against a resurgent Republican presidential campaign. Clinton is scheduled to campaign for Obama in Florida once he wraps up some business and Hillary Clinton is scheduled to stump in Ohio. Can the Clintons help Obama win both delegate rich states? I doubt it.

There is bad blood between Obama and the Clintons and everyone knows it. Even though both Clintons put on their happy faces for the Democratic Convention, Hillary complained that Obama had only raised $380,000 to help retire her debt and Bill waited until the convention to say whether Obama is “ready” to be president.

What is happening in Florida and is starting to happen in Ohio is the Palin factor. She is having the star status that Obama had at the begining of the election. Now the wind is out of the Obama sails and he needs the Clintons. All that I can say is, Row Obama Row.

Hamas will get support from Iran until Israel's Collapse.

Ahmadinejad: Iran will support Hamas until collapse of Israel - Haaretz - Israel News

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad vowed Friday to keep supporting the Palestinian militant group Hamas until the "collapse of Israel."

The Iranian news agency Khabar quoted Ahmadinejad as telling Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh that Iran views the support of the Palestinian people as part of its religious and national duty and that Iran will stand behind the Palestinian nation "until the big victory feast which is the collapse of the Zionist regime."

Iran's President Ahmadinejad.

The United States and Western leaders have been attempting to convince Tehran to stop enriching uranium, which it has continued doing despite sanctions from the UN and the European Union, insisting its nuclear program is purely for civilian energy.

Now the left in this country believes this. They will say, we the United States, has no right to interfere with the business of Iran. They are a sovereign nation, just like the United States, and we don't what anyone to tell us how to live.

Is the United States like Iran? On July 8th, 2008 Iran state media said nine missiles had been fired in total, including a new Shahab-3, with a range of 2,000km (1,240 miles) capable of reaching Tel Aviv. An adviser to Iran's supreme leader said it would retaliate against any military attack by hitting the Israeli city of Tel Aviv. With a nuclear weapon?

Describing Iran as a "great threat", the Democratic challenger, Barack Obama, called for tougher sanctions while his Republican rival, John McCain, said the test demonstrated the need for effective missile defense. Barack Obama wants tougher sanctions which are not working and John McCain wants to set up a missile defense.

Will Israel attack Iran. Yes, if they could but can't. Israel ask for bunker-buster GBU-28 bombs in 2005. The US said no. Israel asked for Air-space authorization: An attack on Iran would apparently require passage through Iraqi air space. The US said no. Israel ask for refueling planes. An air attack on Iran would require refueling of fighter jets on the way back. The US said no.

The Americans made clear to the Israelis that for now they are sticking to the diplomatic option to halt the Iranian nuclear project and that Jerusalem does not have a green light from Washington for an attack on Iran.

Speaking on a visit to Malaysia on Tuesday, Mr Ahmadineja dismissed the possibility of an attack by the US or Israel as a "joke."
