Conservatives Slam Obama’s Answer About Supreme Court Justices at Saddleback Forum - America’s Election HQ
A former law clerk for Clarence Thomas is leading a pack of critics who say Barack Obama’s comments about the Supreme Court justice reveal the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee’s ignorance and misunderstanding of the Constitution.
During the symposium, Obama said he would not have nominated Thomas to the bench because “I don’t think that he was a strong enough jurist or legal thinker at the time for that elevation. Setting aside the fact that I profoundly disagree with his interpretation of a lot of the Constitution.”

Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas
Before I get into this post, we must first get a definition on the term "Uncle Tom." Here is the Wikipedia definition; Uncle Tom is a pejorative for a black person who is perceived by others as behaving in a subservient manner to White American authority figures, or as seeking ingratiation with them by way of unnecessary accommodation.
It is commonly used to describe black people whose political views or allegiances are considered by their critics as detrimental to blacks as a group.
First Pastor Rick Warren asked which existing Supreme Court Justice would you not have nominated? Obama had seven to pick from, four are very conservative, but he picked the black man as the one he would not have nominated.
Second, is Obama a critic of Justice Clarence Thomas? During the symposium, Obama said he would not have nominated Thomas to the bench because “I don’t think that he was a strong enough jurist or legal thinker at the time for that elevation. Setting aside the fact that I profoundly disagree with his interpretation of a lot of the
Constitution.”
And third, does Barack Obama feel the same way as most black people? To this day, to black people, Clarence Thomas is one of the most despised and reviled characters in modern black history.
Looking at these three points, we must agree that Barack Obama believes that Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas is an "Uncle Tom."
